Leadership

Derrick Griffin

Founder & Managing Partner

Derrick brings over two decades of institutional investment experience across private equity, real assets/real estate, and hedge funds. He has deployed more than $2 billion of capital alongside the world's leading investment managers, with a deep conviction in patient, value-oriented investing.

Prior to founding Boulevard, Derrick served in senior investment roles at a college endowment and a major public pension fund, where he invested extensively in lower middle market private equity. Through this experience, he evaluated and partnered with numerous managers, forming a clear perspective on both the strengths and limitations of traditional private equity. He developed a deep appreciation for disciplined processes, operational rigor, and access to patient capital, while also recognizing the risks associated with short-term investment horizons, excessive leverage, and misaligned incentives. This perspective informs a more balanced approach to building businesses for long-term success.

Earlier in his career, Derrick worked directly with operators and management teams to build and scale platforms in wireless infrastructure, single-family rental housing, upstream energy, and the home restoration industry. These investments required active involvement in business strategy, capital allocation, and execution, providing hands-on experience in building successful companies. This combination of institutional investing and direct operating exposure shapes Boulevard's approach, pairing disciplined underwriting with a partnership-driven mindset focused on alignment, resilience, and long-term value creation.
